COASL 6 vs. 6 LEAGUE RULES

Ø      Players must be registered, must have paid, and must be listed on the roster.

Ø      Teams will play 6 vs 6.  Coed teams must have at least three (3) women players on the field at any time.

Ø      Teams must have at least four players (coed must be 3 women) at the scheduled game time.

Ø      Games shall be played on half sized field with field markings and small goals.

Ø      Games shall be 30 minute halves.  (Teams may opt for 25-minute halves.)

Ø      There will be no goal keeper.  Players are allowed to stand in front of the goal to defend shots, but may not use their hands.

Ø      There will be no offsides called in this league.

Ø      There will be no slide tackling except to stop or intercept the ball. No contact can be made with the opposing player while sliding for the ball.

Ø      Kick-ins shall be used in place of throw-ins.  The ball shall be placed in play from the touchline by a “kick in” at the point that it left the field.  All kick-ins will be indirect kicks.

Ø      All free kicks shall be direct from offensive and indirect from defensive end.

Ø      Defending players must be at least five yards from the ball when it is kicked.

Ø      Substitutions may be made with the referee’s permission on kick-ins, goal kicks, and after goals have been scored.

Ø      A goal may be scored only from a touch within a team’s offensive half of the field.  If the ball goes into the goal on a touch from the defending half of the field, a goal kick is awarded to the opposing team.  Coed:  Men will get 1 point per goal and women 2 points per goal.

Ø      A penalty kick is awarded if in the referee’s opinion a scoring opportunity was denied by the infraction.  Penalty kicks are taken from the center of the field with no defenders.

Ø      A goal kick or a corner kick shall be awarded if the ball travels over the end line. A goal kick shall be taken from the defensive goal box.

Ø      A single referee shall be used for each game.

Ø      Each team jersey MUST be similar in color.  The home team shall change in the event of a conflict.

Ø      Other than the above rules specific to the 6-v-6 league, standard FIFA rules of play will be in force (e.g., dangerous play or unsportsmanlike behavior will lead to cards being issued).

Ø      Foul and abusive language will not be tolerated and are grounds for a red card.

Ø      Referees have the right to eject a player, coach, or parent from the game.  The game will not restart until the ejected player, coach, or parent leaves the field and area around the field.  If a player, coach, or parent refuses to leave, the game may be forfeited in favor of the opposing team.

Ø      NO GLASS CONTAINERS ARE ALLOWED AT SOUTH LAKES.

Ø      NO ALCOHOL IS ALLOWED AT SOUTH LAKES, INCLUDING IN THE PARKING LOT.  This is a city ordinance and a COASL rule.  Players found in violation of this rule by COASL or South Lakes will be fined $50 and suspended for at least one game.

Ø      A game ball is to be provided by each team.
